What is Eurodram?
Eurodram is a European network of professionals in the fields of playwriting and translation, including playwrights, translators, and literary authors. The network’s mission is to foster connections between cultures and languages through plays and translations.
The network operates on two alternating focuses:
🟢 In years ending in an even number, such as 2024, each committee selects plays written in its own language to promote internationally.
🟣 In years ending in an odd number, such as 2025, each committee evaluates translations of foreign plays into its own language.
In 2024, the Icelandic language committee selected from 43 Icelandic plays premiered between 2019 and 2023. The nominations reflect not only the quality of the works but also their potential to resonate with different cultural contexts and languages through translation and international staging.
While the nomination does not include financial support or guarantee translations, it can provide increased visibility for the playwrights and open doors to potential opportunities on the international stage.
