Meet Our Artists at CINARS 2024

We are proud to present three companies from Iceland as part of the Nordics Combined delegation at the CINARS Biennale in Montréal. These companies will present their latest projects at the Nordic Pulse pitch session and engage in networking activities alongside peers from Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Sweden. Join us at the pitch session on November 13th, and don’t miss the Nordic Party later that evening at Bar Pamplemousse.

Handbendi Puppetry Company

Handbendi is an award-winning puppetry company based in rural Iceland. They specialize in unique puppetry design and original productions for all ages, which tour internationally. Drawing inspiration from their remote surroundings, they illuminate the extraordinary hidden within the everyday through their distinctive work.

Greta Clough

Greta Clough is the artistic director and creative producer of Handbendi. An award-winning performer, director, and playwright, she formerly served as Associate Artist at London’s Little Angel Theatre. With over a decade of experience, Greta has created and toured original theatre productions globally.

Marble Crowd

Marble Crowd is a Reykjavik-based ensemble known for innovative, devised performances. Their notable works include Moving Mountains in Three Essays and ØLAND, which premiered at the National Theatre of Iceland in 2020 and won the National Performing Arts Award for choreography, scenography, and costumes.

Saga Kjerulf

Saga Kjerulf, representing Marble Crowd, is a multidisciplinary performer and director working across the fields of choreography, theater and music. Alongside her work with Marble Crowd, Saga dances and collaborates with the Iceland Dance Company, directs workshops, performs and makes glamorous trouble with The Post Performance Blues Band.

Trigger Warning

Trigger Warning is a theater company formed in 2016, known for its devised documentary theater. Productions like “She's my Dad” and “Welcome Home” explore personal stories within societal contexts, touring in Iceland and the Nordics. The group is led by directors and producers Kara Hergils and Andrea Vilhjálmsdóttir.

Andrea Vilhjálmsdóttir

Andrea Elín Vilhjálmsdóttir is a dramaturg and director in Iceland, contributing to various productions and a key member of Trigger Warning. She serves as the artistic director for the eco-centric Plöntutíð festival and teaches part-time at the Icelandic University of the Arts, focusing on devised theater. Andrea holds BA in folklore from University of Iceland and BA in theater and performance making from the Icelandic University of the Arts..
